Applying an Effect Step 1
To apply an effect to an image click on the effect icon from the Effect toolbar at the
top of the image editor screen. Click here for a list of effects.
Step 2
After selecting an effect the right side of the screen will show the
effect settings. If an effect supports Stencils then the Stencils toolbar
will appear on the top right. Stencils allow effects to be applied to the
underlying layers using interesting shapes such as Star, Rounded Rectangle, Ellipse
and the conventional Rectangle. Instructions for each effect are displayed
on the bottom right of the screen.
Step 3
Stencils and some effects that do not support Stencils (such as Region of
Interest) use Selection Rectangles. Draw a selection rectangle by clicking
and holding down the left mouse button, drag the mouse and release the left
button to draw a rectangle. Once a rectangle is drawn it can be moved,
stretched and generally resized. If the current effect supports Selection
Rectangles modify the selection to apply the effect to the desired area.
Right-clicking in a Selection Rectangle will display a menu of various
alignment, sizing, and centering services to help manipulate the
rectangles.
Step 4
When done working with an Effect click Apply to save the changes and continue
with another effect. Click Cancel to discard this effect.
Effect List Re-Arranging Effect Layers
When not editing an effect the Image Effects list will display. It is possible
to re-order the application of effects by dragging and dropping items
in the list. The only limitation is that an effect may not be dragged
before or after another effect that shows a padlock image (effects that
alter the shape or size of the image show padlocks).
Editing an Existing Effect
To edit the settings for an effect, including the Stencil and Selection
Rectangle, simply select the effect from the Image Effects list and
click Edit (or double-click).
Deleting and Restoring Effects
Delete an effect by selecting it and clicking Delete. When an effect is
deleted in this way it can be Restored (Undeleted). Deleting and Restoring
can be a useful way to see the effect of an effect in a heavily layered
modification.
